Westwood is Australia's largest active urban renewal project, located 7-9km west of the Adelaide CBD in the suburbs of Ferryden Park, Angle Park, Athol Park, Mansfield Park and Woodville Gardens.
The $800 million project commenced in 1999, and is a joint venture between international developer Urban Pacific Limited and the Department of Families & Communities (Housing SA) in conjunction with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield and City of Charles Sturt.
Westwood is transforming this area of Adelaide into a vibrant and sustainable urban environment that involves replacing and upgrading older public housing stock with new stock, and better ratios of public and privately owned homes. At project completion in 2011 around 2700 homes new and refurbished homes will have been developed.
Westwood is also strengthening the local community and economic fabric of the region through a broad range of non-housing initiatives. Urban Pacific Limited and City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council have each donated $1 million to the Westwood Urban Regeneration Fund, to develop and implement community and economic development strategies.
